Description
As a per diem defensive driving instructor, the primary task would be obtaining instructor certification in AAA National’s Defensive Driving program and teaching classroom-based programs throughout CT and possibly NY.

Develops expertise in Traffic Safety with special attention paid to traffic laws, emerging and priority Association issues such as senior mobility, distracted, and impaired driving.

May occasionally conduct other educational programs, seminars and informational meetings designed to increase public awareness of traffic safety issues and enhance the value of AAA membership both to existing and potential new members.

Position requires regional travel in Connecticut and potentially New York. Must set the example by maintaining a good MVR record.

QUALIFICATIONS. A minimum of 5 years' experience in adult education, safety training or public seminar programs.
Ability to acquire an in-depth knowledge of Traffic Safety and obtain certification in AAA National’s Defensive Driving Program and knowledge of state, regional and AAA Association Senior Mobility issues are helpful. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products with advanced knowledge of power point is required. Must have the ability to develop effective working relationships. Must function as a team player. Strong
verbal, communication and public speaking skills required. Must maintain an excellent MVR record and successfully pass a
criminal background check.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS. This position involves sitting, standing, walking, and normal physical mobility, including reaching, grasping, lifting, and carrying typical office equipment averaging approximately 10 to 20 pounds in weight. Color vision and normal or corrected hearing to the level of ability to receive detailed information orally and to accurately understand normal conversation, both in person and on the telephone. Ability to clearly express or exchange information by means of the spoken word, both in person and on the telephone. Position requires regional travel
throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The ability to drive a van or other commercial-type vehicle
is required.
